Kishu Shimpaku

Species Focus: Kishu Shimpaku Juniper

Skill level: Intermediate
Instructor: Zuma Fleischmann

The Kishu Shimpaku is a cultivar of Juniper which features extraordinarily small and tight growing needles. The visual effect, when executed properly, is an elegant and cloud-like deep green canopy. We have set aside a beautiful selection of Kishu with uniquely gnarled trunks, allowed them to grow at the nursery for several years. We are excited to share this opportunity to work with meticulously refined material. Students should be prepared to learn jin and shari-carving with hand tools, detailed wiring, and traditional styling techniques.

Includes all materials required to take the class.
