Chinese Elm
Skill level: Beginner
The Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia) is native to China and South-East Asia, growing up to heights of 80 feet. Its fine branch ramification with small, shiny leaves make it an ideal species for bonsai. The Chinese elm is a cold-hardy tree, and should be grown outdoors from mid-April through mid-November. Students will learn about proper bonsai care as they enhance their technical skills. These skills include: wiring, pruning, potting skills. Each student will go home with a beautiful new tree.
